Enjoyed a good car show.
I couldn’t tell you how I found about about this British car show at the Shelton Vineyards, but I am glad I did. The vineyard is located in the Yadkin Valley American Viticultural Area, and the winery is absolutely beautiful.
The primarily vintage British cars scattered throughout the property only enhanced the the scenery and atmosphere. Shelton Vineyards holds there British car show annually around April.
People come from all over to show their cars off. Triumphs, MG’s, Aston Martin, Lotus and Jaguar were all in the house plus your standard Rolls Royce and Bentley’s.
We spent the entire day walking the grounds and checking out all the fantastic cars on display. We also took a free ride through the vineyard and was educated about how the vineyard started. We also got to take a free tour where they showed up how they made their wine.
There is a very nice, large store and gift shop where you can purchase all kinds of goodies while you wait for the next door. You can also sample their wines before you buy.
Outside there is a pretty good size pond with a bridge that’s stocked with fish. Our kids enjoyed feeding the fish.
Shelton Vineyards may be a winery but with family fun events like the British car show you can take your entire family and have a day of fun somewhere new.
On our way home we stopped at Pirates Landing. The restaurant is located in Elkin at exit 85 just off of I77. We saw the pirate ship looking building on the way up and had to stop on the way home. It was worth it just to say we went there.
